Matching Project ~
The Northeastern Region is pleased to announce our participation in
the Soroptimist matching project. This international project will
enable our local clubs to work together to address the needs of
women and girls in another country. Our project match for the
2011-2012 fiscal year will be to support and partner with
the
Soroptimist Club of Kisumu, Kenya in their effort to provide support
for women inmates, released prisoners and their families. Our region
goal is to raise $2,000 to help support SI of Kisumu. We hope all
ten clubs in the northeastern region will participate. Donations
from club and individuals should be mailed to the region treasurer,
Kathie Lang, 21 Susan Lane, Meriden, CT 06450. Please clearly mark

Some tips from Governor Sara Nichols:
Tip #1: Be true to yourself
– You are most important. Keep yourself healthy and find what makes
you most satisfied in your purposeful life. Maybe your children,
spouse, parent, or friend can come second. Your work, community and
Soroptimist efforts come somewhere after that. Use your windows of
opportunity to recharge your energy.
Tip #2: Be a Lazy Leader.
One martyr leader working at 110% gets one project done, leaving one
person exhausted and energy depleted. One lazy leader with 10
additional volunteers working at 20% effort can get one project done
with outrageous results and loads more fun, and enough energy to do
another project!
Tip #3: Share the gift of Soroptimist with
an amazing woman. Many women
are looking for meaningful uses of their time, isn’t Soroptimist’s
mission just that meaningful to share? Imagine this - If we doubled
the membership in your club, what would it look like? What could we
be able to do differently thanks to all the new members? What would
we need to do differently to support so many new members? Wouldn’t
it be awesome just by starting to think about the possibilities…
